Florida “G” License Course
In accordance with Florida Chapter 493, Class “G” licensed armed security officers are required to complete 28-hours of classroom and range instruction under the direction of a Class “K” licensed instructor. We offer Class “G” license training as a three-day course. Days One and Two will be in a classroom. Day Three will be range day at Shooting Sports.
The Florida Armed Security Officer Course covers all information required by the State of Florida for Class “G” license applicants, including:

In addition to lesson instruction, every student is walked through the State application process to ensure that the Class “G” license application is complete and filled out properly.
Students that pass the final exam and range qualification will be given proof of completion to provide to the State when they apply for the Class “G” license.
Course Includes:
28 hours of instruction by a Florida Class “K” Licensed instructor, eye and ear protection, all classroom materials, and State application.
Requirements:

You must be at least 18 years old

Be a U.S citizen or legal resident

Have no disqualifying criminal history, no felonies, no current Restraining Orders, and no convictions of Domestic Violence.

Proof of citizenship or legal resident required.

Students that obtain their G License must complete the 4-hour renewal course annually to maintain their license.

You will need to pass a physical medical test from a doctor and to pass a firearm proficiency course that includes a written portion and a target shooting portion.

You must have a valid D License in order to obtain the G License. Range Fees are NOT included in the price.
Note: A License Processing Fee must be paid to the state of Florida. This fee is not included in the training price.
The Florida Armed Security Officer course requires the use of a .38 revolver, .357 revolver, 9mm, .40 cal or .45 cal semi-automatic pistols. Students possessing their own firearm may use them on the range, however, do not bring them into the classroom. Those students wishing to qualify with both a semi-automatic and a revolver will have to pay an additional cost. All firearms needed for the classroom component will be provided. If you are bringing a handgun to the range on “range day”, the weapon should be brought to the range unloaded and encased. Please have a holster that fits the handgun. All student-brought weapons will be subjected to a safety inspection prior to live fire.

Florida Armed Security Officer Class “G” Recertification Course
The State of Florida requires that all Florida License G” Armed Security Officers re-qualify once per year with the type of handgun that they carry on duty.

Students that successfully re-qualify will be given proof of recertification (Proficiency form DACS-16005) to provide to the State to maintain their Class “G” license.
Firearms & Equipment

We recommended that you bring the following items to the range:

38 Revolver or 357 Revolver, .38 cal ammo
OR -
9mm, .40 cal or .45 cal semi-automatic handgun

(2+) speed loaders (or 3+ magazines, if appropriate)

Quality duty holster and loader/magazine pouches
-
(NO cross draw, shoulder, or ankle holsters)
-
Comfortable clothing that provides protection from both the sun and ejected brass

Baseball cap recommended

If you are bringing a handgun, the weapon should be brought to the range unloaded and encased. All student-brought weapons will be subjected to a safety inspection prior to live fire.
If you do not possess a handgun for use at the range, you may rent one for a fee of $10.00 from Shooting Sports.

HR-218 Course
The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is a United States federal law, enacted in 2004, that allows two classes of persons—the “qualified law enforcement officer” and the “qualified retired law enforcement officer” — to carry a concealed firearm in all 50 US States or US Territories. It should be noted that the LEOSA does not limit or change any officer’s authority within their own state/jurisdiction from carrying or to where a firearm is carried “off duty” or “on duty” under their own state law.

This course exceeds all firearms safety training requirements of Florida’s concealed handgun law. You will receive a certificate of completion which you can submit to the Florida Department of Agriculture with your concealed permit application. The course is designed to provide the students with the guidelines regarding concealed firearm and weapons carry and help explain how those laws pertain to their right to own and carry a weapon.
We use a common sense approach to carrying a concealed firearm.
